The Best Ways to Purchase My Book: San Francisco's Jewel City: The
Panama-Pacific International Exposition of 1915

Thanks so much to the many of you who have expressed interest in buying a
copy or copies of my new book on the 1915 World's Fair! A number have also
asked for the best way to get it. This is actually an area where we want to
be a bit strategic to try to get the book on some of the bestseller lists.
So if you'll bear with me, I'll explain the three best ways to buy, per my
publisher's suggestions.

1)     Buy from me! By doing so, you will receive an autographed copy. You

indicated, or send via email to sales at sf1915.com. I accept checks or credit
cards, which I process securely using Square.

Make sure you indicate to whom you want the book(s) autographed clearly!

2)  Buy from a local, brick-and-mortar independent bookstore on "Small
Business Saturday," which is November 29. (The day after "Black Friday.")
You can find your closest local indie bookstore by going to

Then go to that store's web page and search for "Laura Ackley" (or "San
Francisco's Jewel City") and see if they have them in stock. You might need
to call them and make sure they order the book, which would also be a
tremendous favor to me, as it will show the stores there is interest in the
title.

3)  Buy online on "Cyber Monday," December 1. This could be from any online
source, including many of these same independent bookstores, or from Amazon.

Note that while options 2 and 3 won't get you an autographed copy, I'm happy
to sign copies for my friends any time I see you during the year, possibly
at an event if you plan to attend any!

This "Whirlwind Tour of the Panama-Pacific International Exposition" will
take the audience on an amazing tour of the Fair from its original concept
in 1904 through its development and all the way to its gala opening in
February 1915. We'll peek inside the gorgeous exhibit "Palaces" for a look
at just a few of the wonders therein, and finish with some of the
attractions on the Joy Zone, the PPIE's midway. Illustrated with dozens of
amazing photos, lantern slides, postcards, souvenirs and panoramas.

Laura Ackley holds graduate degrees in Architecture from Harvard University
and the University of California at Berkeley. Her interest in the Panama
Pacific International Exposition was captured by a Cultural Landscapes
course during her undergraduate years. Laura has published a number of
articles on the Bay Area special effects and animation industries and has
taught 3D computer modeling and animation for more than a decade.
